The location of this hotel is amazing. Walking distance to major train station and multiple attractions. You can take coffee from the machine in the lobby and there is happy hour (sake and beer) every afternoon and cotton candy for the kids The rooms were spacious and clean with a kitchenette big enough for light cooking (condiments and kitchen ware are provided)

Free craft beer! Do I need to say more. The location was great near the high street. I liked not being in Gion (way to touristy). Awesome shopping and nice restaurants around. Staff were fantastic. Mimaru is definitely a good choice for first-timers to Japan as the staff do a lot for you in terms of booking taxis, making reservations at restaurants, etc. Would definitely recommend it. We really enjoyed our 7 night stay

Self catered. Several food shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Quiet location. Easy to get taxis, buses and subway. Free coffee, tea, beer and sake provided. Very good kitchen, laundry facilities and bathrooms in the apartment. Very helpful staff, most spoke some English. Was able to arrange for an early check in, for a small extra fee.

The location was great and central to many places, and the staff were all very friendly and so helpful with everything. We had a 3-bedroom suite which was well appointed and very clean. It was so nice to have a living and dining area in our suite to relax in after a long day of being out and about sightseeing. There was no breakfast offered but since our room had a kitchen and dining area, we were able to have meals in our room. Our breakfasts were usually something quick from the nearby convenience stores that had good food and fruit and was reasonably priced, which was great. The complimentary sake during happy hour and great coffee machine in the lobby was also much appreciated. Would highly recommend Mimaru Suites Kyoto Shijo to everyone!

We loved staying at the Mimaru Suites Kyoto Shijo!!! Everything about it was first class and wonderful, from the staff, the accommodations, amenities, ambience, etc. This was the first visit to Kyoto for the 3 of us. Seth, in particular, was incredibly helpful to us!!! We will remember Seth as being a “Hidden Superstar” with a warm, delightful and engaging personality! While he appeared laid back, humble, and unassuming, whenever we asked him for his advice, he revealed a wealth of wonderful suggestions that really made a striking difference for us and helped us to have culinary, nature walks, and cultural experiences in Kyoto! We really appreciated Seth’s and everyone’s efforts at Mimaru Suites for enriching our lives by creating such meaningful experiences for us!

Our stay was fantastic from start to finish! The suite was perfect for our group, giving everyone room to relax and enjoy their time. Having a fully-equipped kitchen and in-suite washer and dryer was such a bonus – it made everything so convenient! The location couldn’t have been better, with easy access to all the sights and amenities. But the real highlight was the incredible staff. They were attentive, friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We also loved the evening treats, with complimentary sake and hot drinks that made for a cosy and memorable end to each day. We can’t wait to come back!

We (two adults, two kids 10 & 14) stayed at MIMARU Suites for five nights and really liked the place right from the start. The reception folks were very friendly, also when we communicated with them before arrival. They have great tips for dinner and are very approachable. Our suite was spacious (for Japanese standards) and very comfortable, including the beds. Well equipped and with one regular and one on-suite bathroom. Aircon worked well and the living room was large. A nice touch is free coffee in the morning and nicer still was the happy hour between 5 and 7 pm with free (tasty) beer and sake. This is offered in a communal space near the reception which allows chatting to other travelers which we enjoyed. The kids enjoyed a MIMARU bingo which includes a few fun tasks to complete around Kyoto. When done a small gift was given, enough to buy another 10 mins of kid happiness. 😊 Another bonus are the large amounts of items which are on loan for free. A lot of useful items for the weary traveller (see photo). We also liked the location close to underground stations, restaurants and the main shopping street. All in all a fab location, highly recommended.

As a family of six, finding suitable sized apartment style accommodation in Japan has been difficult in the past. Mimaru has changed this for us, as the rooms were spacious, multiple bathrooms in suite to accommodate all, good living spaces and kitchen. And private washer/dryer was excellent for family with children. The staff were also outstanding - always helpful, gracious and accommodating. We had a number of inquiries and requests and they were always excellent in their assistance. The hotel provided two hours of evening happy hour drinks, and over the New Year period these were extended to all day in celebration for a number of days. This was a welcome surprise, along with a bottle of sake.

The hotel is located is a busy tourist area several blocks south of the Nashiki market and many upscale shops. It's close to both bus and subway stations. The staff is very responsive and they provide a happy hour, free tea/coffee, and many extra items you can borrow. We stayed in the large family suite and it was very comfortable and clean.
